“As a painter, I always follow a narrative process to plan my creations. However, there is always a moment where I hit a wall of frustration and chaos. The pain of it all sparks a moment of creativity that challenges my own boundaries and preconceived notions. It leads to a destruction of the original concept, cuts and a creaking of the mind, but it ultimately leads to something new.”

This chaotic moment is where the real magic happens –a partial destruction of perfect designed forms, makes way for what will be:

“And as I emerge from this chaotic crucible, my art takes on a new life, a new story, that is completely different yet still holds the impression of my original idea.”

This is the beauty of the narrative process in painting – it’s a living, breathing entity that always has something new to teach us.

BIO

Though born in Portugal in 1978, Wichels has travelled extensively and lived in several diverse countries such as Spain and Germany. In her paintings we find eclectic influences from across the world.

Wichels confesses her admiration and inspiration from renowned artists such as the fauvist Henry Matisse, the German expressionist Ernst Kirchner, and the abstract painter Gerhard Richter.

The bold use of colours and intricate brushstrokes create a unique style that truly captures the essence of her subjects. Wichels’ art showcases her creative spirit and the rich experiences that have shaped her into the artist she is today.

Through her art, Wichels invites us to join on this journey of reconciling logic and creativity, and to discover the beauty of this amazing fusion.

With a PhD in New Technology, Masters in Business, and many years of business experience under her belt, Wichels has been able to bring together her love for art with innovative approaches that are sure to inspire those who interact with it.

Art Self Versus Finantial Self

Wichels is a fine art painter who defies the logical versus creative stereotype. With a successful career in finance, she is able to balance both his financial self and artist self. In fact, it’s this duality that inspires much of her modern art. For her creating art is a way of tapping into a different side of his brain; one that’s not bound by traditional rules or expectations. The result is a body of work that perfectly blends logic and imagination – showcasing the endless possibilities when two worlds collide.

“Throughout my life, I have always been fascinated by the world of art. Whether it be through painting, sculpture, or music, there is something about the ability to manifest my thoughts and emotions that I find truly captivating. However, as someone who works in the financial industry, my day-to-day life is marked by a strong emphasis on logic and rational thinking.”

Many people believe that there is a sharp division between the logical and creative sides of the brain, but for this artist, these two sides seem to have found a happy marriage. While much of Wichels’ career has been dedicated to financial analysis and strategy, the free time is spent in front of a canvas, where she explores the depths of imagination. Wichels believes that there is beauty in the balance between her financial self and her artist self, and she truly seems to have found a way to make both worlds coexist in harmony:

“Art plays an even more critical role in my world. It allows me to relieve some of the pressure and give my mind a chance to dream wild and free. It is the perfect balance to my logical self, and allows me to explore facets of my being that I would otherwise be unable to. For me, the artist and the financier are two sides of the same coin, and I am grateful for the opportunity to explore and express both”.
